Cynthia Shaver has traveled extensively in Japan and has been buying and selling Japanese antiques since 1976. Her career has emphasized good condition and top quality antiques.
In 2005, Ms. Shaver shifted her focus to appraising Asian antiques. She attended the University of California at Irvine for advancement in the American Society of Appraisers (ASA). Also required for certification is a four year college degree. Insurance Coverage, Estate Tax, and Charitable Contribution assistance are among the professional appraisal services Ms. Shaver is qualified to provide, meeting IRS requirements. After thirty years as a dealer, Ms. Shaver has a limited inventory she will continue to sell. Professionally, Ms. Shaver has given lectures on Japanese antiques for museums, libraries, interior designers and art related institutions. She has been featured in various newspaper and magazine articles. She has served on the Board of Directors for The Society for Asian Art at the San Francisco Asian Art Museum, and is presently a Board member of the Textile Arts Council for the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco. |
